Where do I start? The cheap plastic spark plug hole inserts can’t even be threaded into the bores because the threads aren’t cut to the correct dimensions – ran my own Japanese made 14mm/1.25 die on them to get them to actually screw in. The ratchet wrench, arguably the most used tool in the kit is made like cheap Chinese tin – probably won’t last beyond 2 jobs. No magnet wand supplied – I guess that’s expecting too much for a $125 dollar kit that Kommen is selling for $400. No pliers to grab valve stem seals with – again, that would be too extravagant an expense to include in a $400 kit. Ditto for the 8mm wrench to fit the main adjuster. The valve stem keeper installer tool is a joke – end piece flops back and forth on a pivot making it impossible to mount the keepers even if the keeper holder socket were designed properly to adequately hold and insert the keepers. But the keeper installer is not entirely useless, it can serve as a nice paper weight to put on top of the poorly written instruction sheets before you realize there are better instructions on line and decide to throw them out anyway…. Two stars were given because the product kind of works if you’re good at working with junk – a one star rating reserved for a tool kit that is utterly useless in ever conceivable way.

This kit lets you get the job done and is a great alternative to the AGA tool kit that costs three times as much. I used it on my 2010 BMW 550 with the N62 V8. Yes, the tool for installing the keepers is useless but the most important pieces, which are used to compress the valve springs, work just fine. To install the keepers put some lithium grease on the valve stem and use a small magnetic tool or magnetized screwdriver to place each keeper. Use a chopstick (or anything non-magnetic) to help position the keeper and hold it briefly while you retract the magnetic tool.
