You have to have either the sport roof or the JL audio roof to use this, but if you have either one of those, this thing is amazing. They claim it can’t be used with a rear windshield, but you MAY be able to use it if you’re willing to cut huge holes in your rear windshield…I can’t say this for absolutely certain, though. The build quality seems pretty good, though I can’t say for certain if this is responsible for any HP or mileage gains…maybe a teeny tiny gain at speed from the effect of the air being rammed into it, but I have no real data to support that. Just a gut feeling.Installation isn’t difficult, but it is pretty involved. You’ll need to remove the roof panel as well as the original intake opening for the engine, and you’ll be drilling a few holes in the roof. Also, reaching some of the screws to tighten them can be a real challenge, one of those “flex adapters” for your cordless screwdriver is VERY handy here. Give yourself a good afternoon to complete this project, this is not a 5-minute job. Also, be very careful working around the engine intake that you don’t accidentally drop a screw or nut into a difficult to reach spot, trust me here.I think one of the main benefits to this is there is a slight reduction in engine noise in the passenger compartment, as the air intake is no longer right behind your head but above you on the roof. It’s not a dramatic difference, but it’s definitely there.Overall, I think this is a great upgrade. It looks amazing, helps with noise levels just a bit, and may, just may, give you a slight bump in HP and fuel efficiency. Definitely recommended, just make sure you give yourself the time to do it right.
