These welding coupons are great for a beginner like me. I struggle to find weldable material and am never really sure what metals are in the scrap pieces I have managed to scrounge together. Moreover, the process of cutting and prepping material to practice welding is a labor that does not feel particularly rewarded. These coupons were easy to use and super convenient. I was able to get some real world experience on pieces of steel of known thicknesses. This helped me get at least a sense of what it is like to weld different thicknesses and the coupons have nice clean edges so any flaws in the joint are my fault. No question of whether there was something wrong with the metal, or with my prep. Although I am sure the price per square foot on these coupons is high compared to steel bought in larger quantities, I still think the practice is worth the investment.

I’m brand new to welding and these are being used for my first practice. I don’t know how to really grade them, but they are solid and work for my needs.

Great little set to keep me brushed up on my tig settings before moving on to the actual part. I don’t weld every day, so It takes a few minutes to get back in the swing. These help, I lay down a quick bead and get the feel for it and I’m ready to go.
