For performance – 5 stars. For lack of info on the fitting to the gauge, I knocked it down to 4. I still don’t know what that fitting is, but I had to buy a $150 OTC 5021 gauge to work with that fitting. This price of the two tools combined is still cheaper than buying a “real” universal compression gauge kit, or paying for a compression test on the 7.3L – plus you can always sell it on a diesel forum or on craigslist to get most of your money back. These are coveted by those who need them, and they will gladly pay reasonable money for a used one.This was so easy to use, it’s almost a crime. Once the glow plug is out, this spins in by hand – no fighting the infamous rocker arm issues on the 7.3L from 1994.5 to 2003. With the O-ring seal, I just tightened by hand and no need for a wrench to get a good seal for a consistent reading. I have tried many other cheaper experiments with compression tests, and none of them gave me consistent readings from one test to the next – not even on the same cylinder. …the o-ring comes off. I tried making my own adapter with all the instructions on the web and wasted two days. I ordered this out of sheer frustration and it works incredibly well for the most part. I read the prior reviews about the o-ring and was really careful to pull the tool straight out slowly. Until I got to the last cylinder, #7, and lost the o-ring when I pulled it out.It’s not required for making a good seal, as I retested an easy cylinder by threading it in only finger tight and the results were the same. It’s needed to provide a slight buffer for taking the tool out once the force of the cylinder compression has been exerted in it. The brazed connections are very delicate and even the insertion was finger tight, the extraction afterwards without the o-ring providing cushion was tenuous. I was worried one of the joints would give.The tool size and dimension is absolutely perfect for the 7.3 psd test. I might try experimenting with losing the little o-ring and trying a larger one placed above the threads.

This is THE adaptor for 7.3 diesels. Most others on the market will exhibit clearance issues. I did have to make an adapter to use my gauge as there is no check valve in the adaptor.

Sealed perfectly, coincidentally the ford glow plugs are the same as on my cdi so I did the test and no leaks, you dont have to tighten too much, or else you’ll break the line!This will work on ( om648,om647, om646, om642, t1n or bluetec sprinters! )

Screws into glow plug hole easy to use other testers have no room and don’t work. Not sure if it works with other gauges I bought the same brand gauge

If you can’t blow through it take a drill bit smaller than the pipe part drill in as far as possible then using cline pliers and a piece of rebar tie wire force it through the center hole now the one I bought works fine but it took a minute to get it to work and I found out I lost a whole bank of cylinders on my 7.4l Ford they really need more quality control in my book

Would of been perfect but where the hose fits on the end for tester was not the same fitting and not able to find anything that would fit it
