The light bolts right on to a factory XR650L fender, all that is needed with newer machines is to adapt the factory wires to the new tail light (5 minute job, highly recommend solder and shrink tube along wtih the bullet connector).The running light is much brighter than the incandesent factory light, and also brighter than the popular XR600/XR650R tail light.The brake light is even brighter, and VERY visable in the day time. Added bonus is the way this new tail light is designed, the light shines VERY brightly in the correct pattern to be most visable to traffic behind the motorcycle.Highly recommend!!

If you are leaving your stock fender on the bike this does not bolt up to it. The stock rear fender has a recess designed in it that the oem tail light fits into. There is no place to bolt it on that fender where it sits flat and looks good. On my 2023 DR the harness on this tail light will have to be extended as it is too short to reach the OEM plugs for the wiring. If you want it to look good you will need an aftermarket rear fender for light bolt up and you will need to do some wiring. It is not plug and play on the oem 2023 DR-650. It is a very bright light and I love that about it. It also looks water proof by design.

Product fitment is very nice. Instructions included are detailed and useful. This tail light looks great, functions good, is Very bright and even has a tag light. Tested in the rain and still works perfectly. Better than other alternatives in my opinion.

Easy install, but it requires cutting existing OEM tail light wiring. New light wiring comes with three male bullet connectors;No female bullet connectors are supplied and must be purchased separately to complete installation. Worth the effortbecause thus light really cleans up the rear fender compared the hideously ugly OEM tail light and mount. Brighter than OEM light, too.Like another review here, I agree the light should come with a rubber gasket between the light and fender.

Installed this on my 2005 XR650L, super easy. Super Bright Light! I used lock nuts in place of the nuts that were supplied so I didn’t have to over tighten them. I Also clipped the wires down to ~2-3 inches and crimped on new bullets so I could tuck the connections under the light.

Read instructions they help with wiring since there not the same colors, for 2024 owners of the XR beware you will have to cut a little of the rear fender for right fitment
