Product Description

Before and After Using Happy Campers Extreme Cleaner on a Gray Holding Tank

Happy Campers Extreme Holding Tank Cleaner for Black and Gray Tanks

The Extreme Holding Tank Cleaner by Happy Campers is just that — Extreme!

Use this product when you need to totally clean an RV or Marine holding tank. Works for both black water and gray water holding tanks.

This is NOT a regular maintenance treatment to control odor, this product is designed to completely clean your holding tank when you know you’ve got a problem. If there is stubborn buildup, mold, or other disgusting gunk in your holding tanks, this will get it out.

We highly recommend that you watch what comes out of your holding tank even if you thought it was fairly clean — you’ll be surprised.

Just take a look at these actual images shown above of an RV gray holding tank that appeared to be clean. The water was running clear before using the Extreme Cleaner treatment and WOW, look what came out.

The Extreme RV Holding Tank Cleaner is Easy to Use:

How To Use Happy Campers Extreme Holding Tank Cleaner?

1. Dump and Thoroughly Rinse Holding Tank.

Make sure you empty what you can out of your RV holding tanks before starting.

2. Mix entire container into 4 gallons of hot water.

Mix the product until it’s fully dissolved and then pour it down a sink or flush it down the toilet.

3. Add more water, wait and then dump.

Add 5-7 more gallons of water, then drive for a minimum of 45 minutes (or until you reach your destination). Then dump and rinse your tank.

*If stationary; fill your tank and let it set 24-48 hours before dumping.

About the Extreme Cleaner:

  • It thoroughly Clean holding tanks.
  • Cleans poor working sensors.
  • Perfect for when You just bought your RV & want to super clean the tanks for a fresh start.
  • A great product for an annual clean out, especially when winterizing.
  • *Recommended for use in 30-60 gallon tanks.

A Note from Happy Campers about the Extreme Cleaner:

Much like clothes in a washing machine, rinsing & agitation does most of the work, EXTREME CLEANER simply softens & helps dissolve sludge & crud in holding tanks. Use an on-board or flexible down-the-toilet rinser for best results.

If your trailer/RV is not mobile:

Fill your holding tank as full as possible and add the entire container for treatment following step 3 above. Leave in your holding tank 24-48 hours before dumping.

Note: If you own an RV you probably know that holding tank sensors are historically temperamental, and even a little unreliable. Heavy cleaning will usually (but not always) restore scum-crusted sensors. Stationary units require more rinsing with less success. Will not dissolve “wipes” or fix broken or corroded probes.

*This product is not intended to be a regular holding tank treatment or deodorant – seasonal at most.

I read the reviews on this product and decided to give it a try. I followed the directions regarding preparing the mixture for traveling to camp ground than flushing out the holding tank. All I can say is that the light on my black tank monitor has been 4 (full) for a long time whether tank is full or empty. After flushing tank at camp ground, light went to empty and by the time we left, 4 days, it read 3 lights(3/4) full. Dumped it before we left and light went to empty. Now we are home and light still reads empty and it smells pretty good when sniffing around in the camper bath room. You can draw your own conclusions. As for me, it appears to have the job and probably will be added to my periodical maintenance. I can safely say, you have the same holding tank monitor issues and haven’t tried this product, give it a try. Be sure to follow the instructions to the letter.

Worked well as a temporary partial solution to holding tank sensor problems. But no substitute for a professional cleaning, Like most RV owners, I thought when I drained my black water tank all the nastiness drained out – until I had a professional cleaning and discovered how much disgusting stuff had been lingering in my tanks just under my dining table! Advice for RV owners – even if you have full connections, don’t open your black water valve until your tank is at least 2/3 full. If it’s not 2/3 by the time you are ready to break camp, just add water to the toilet until you get to 2/3 or more and then open the black water valve to drain. I close my gray water valve the day before breaking camp so that I can open it after draining the black water to flush the drain hose with the gray water. Otherwise, if you have the valve open, when you use the toilet, the liquids drain out immediately leaving the solids (toilet paper and poop) in your tank . And then come the sewer flies whose larva turns into worms and just becomes more and more disgusting! (This only takes a few weeks.) Have your tanks professionally cleaned at least once per year if you use your toilet for #2! Between professional cleanings this product will help. When using this, it’s best to put it in the toilet with water before you head out on your journey and the drive will “slosh” it around in the tank to help with scouring. Then drain the tank before setting up camp.

I was having issues with RV blank tank not emptying and I decided to try Happy Campers Extreme cleaner. I am currently stationary and followed the instructions accordingly. Mixed the Extreme product with 3 gallons of hot water until dissolved, poured into the toilet, then filled the tank with the blank tank wash connection to help provide agitation, as recommended by Happy Campers. Then let sit for 24 hours. I opened the valve, turned on the black tank wash and emptied black tank 100%! Sensor light indicated tank was empty. Happy Camper for sure!

Pro: does clean the tankCon: made holes in my plastic tunnel from the waste tank to the sewer line. I found this out after I had refilled the tank to flush it one last time. The water came out clear but spilled out to the ground. I’ll have to find a new one.

I have used this twice over several years typically on our last leg of a trip following the instructions of using hot water. The black tank is 50 gallons and after dumping then flushing, the water is clear during the flush. We use our motorhome 10 months of the year and do not regularly flush & never had any issues. If we were part timers I would do it every year.

Se nota que limpia algo, lástima que sea sólo 1 uso y que sea tan caro.

Used this whole container in our black tank when we took our camper home from the seasonal. Drive was about an hour and when we emptied the tank, the amount of nasty stuff that came out was amazing. This was after we spent an hour with a hose spraying down the toilet and filling the tank 3 times and emptying it. The amount of nasty crap still in there was amazing. May do this again next spring before we bring it up to our seasonal too and see if it cleans any more out.

Tried this product in our grey tanks to clean the sensors which were always reading 2/3rds. Filled the tank full, let sit overnight and emptied the next morning. When tank was emptied I looked at the sensor and now my tank still reads full. Did not clean the sensor and made it worse. Complete waste of money.

I went home for Thanksgiving in my car, so I put this product in the black water tank, filled it full and left it. Upon return, I drained the tank and there was no more sewer smell!I’m going to California in my car in the spring, so I reordered the product to use while I’m gone.I highly recommend this product!
