For 5 years since Ive had my Jeep I would get a squeal/or what sounded to me like a vibration like when the heat shield bangs against a metal line, and it would go away after motor warmed up. One day my buddy heard it and shouted to me OPDA!! Went home and googled it and bam!! A million write ups on faulty OPDAs on 05-06 wranglers. Still didn’t think mine was bad as it didn’t really sound like the bad opdas I was listening to on YouTube. I’m also fairly knot on my year Jeep and never heard anything on this. So I changed it regardless and waited to start her up until it was real cold. I started her up and no more noise ..!! Problem fixed!! The job itself is fairly easy, helps if you have smaller hands lol. Make sure you remove old gasket and put new one on… also oil up new distributor with the motor oil you use .. I also used the old sensor with new pump. Good luck

I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with the 4.0L i6. If you’re considering this for a replacement OPDA I would recommend it. One thing to consider if you have a factory Mopar Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) in your Jeep right now I recommend transferring it to this new part, but hold onto it the new one as a spare. I transferred my OE CMP into this new unit but after about a year the magnetic pickup sustained damage and had to install the CMP that came with this part, it has been about 1,000 miles and no problems. Also, if you like playing mud, after installing it and removing the plastic alignment tool, use some tape to cover the hole to prevent anything from making its way into the cavity and damaging your CMP.

Used in a 2006 jeep Wrangler with the 4.0Just remove the cover from the old unit, turn the crankshaft untill the hole in the cam wheel aligns with the hole in the unit. Pull out the old and drop in the new. I reused the factory cam sensor and put the new one up for a spare. Works like a factory unit. Very pleased.

Took me an hour to replace the bad OPDA with this new one. Shop wanted ~$575 to replace. I re-used the OEM sensor with this new OPDA. I have 96K miles on the TJ and the old OPDA started screeching. I wish I had done this prior to the old one dying as preventative maintenance, I got lucky and don’t think it caused damage. Very happy!
