My GSD “puppy” figured out she can lick the lock on the kennel door and get it open. The lock is configured to use a padlock to secure it but I don’t want to dial a combination or find a key every time I let the dogs out. I asked chatgpt if anyone makes a fake padlock and it said that they exist to give the appearance of security from a distance without the inconvenience of a real padlock. That’s exactly what I needed.There are two in the package so I may put the other one on the shackle of my storage shed door to make it appear to be locked up. You can’t tell that this is not a real padlock even holding it in your hand. It is heavy steel and looks just like a Master Lock. Until you pull the steel hasp and it opens right up! Clicks solidly back in place too. The dog has not gotten out after using this device so success!

It works great for the gates into my yard. It’s not that high security of an area, someone could easily climb the fence if they were that tempted, but it looks the part and hopefully would deter any crime.One thing I will say is that the “locks” shackles are bigger than a normal Masterlock, so it may not fit every situation, it is just about at the largest size possible for my fence.

These locks are awesome, just what I was looking for. I bought 4 of them total for gates in a chain-link fence. I don’t have time to carry keys and unlock real locks on a fence that anyone can climb over if they really want in, but this gives the appearance that the gates are locked to possible deter people who may just walk right in.Be sure and grease them like it says on the package as they became a bit hard to open after being out in the elements after lots of rain. I put grease in all of them and they’re operating nicely again.

I use this just for a little psychological deterrent on my shed which doesn’t contain anything valuable but would be annoying to clean up if someone went through it. It’s been outside for about a year now and it’s holding up great. A smaller version would be nice with a less chunky latch.

Currently using this lock for a shed that doesn’t have any super valuable stuff inside. I just want a lock on it for a deterrent and to help make sure that the door stays closed. Note that this does not actually lock, only provide the appearance of a sturdy lock. I started using the lock last fall and about six months later I am happy to report that it lasted very well throughout the icy cold winter. There are no signs of rust or any issues at all. It opens and closes smoothly and works as stated. I highly recommend this lock if you are looking for a very basic deterrent.
