Description
CURT specialty ball mounts are a group of exceptional towing products, built to succeed where others fear to tread. From the back roads of overrun forests to the muddy fields of small town farms, towing looks a little different, and that means different demands on your towing equipment. CURT offers a full lineup of unique ball mounts that are made to tackle the rougher side of towing while still being able to fit a standard 2″ x 2″ receiver tube. Our forged tow hook mount is great for straight towing a vehicle and for other similar recovery towing applications. It measures 10″ long and is designed specifically for a tow strap without hook ends. The gross trailer weight of the forged tow hook is limited to the hitch capacity. It is perfect for everything from full-size pickup trucks to ATVs and comes with a special black carbide powder coat finish to provide the corrosion, scratch and UV resistance needed to survive anything you throw its way.

Got this hook mostly for pulling out stuck trucks but have found tons of uses for it around the house. Pulling shrubs and a massive tree stump most recently and thing works unbelievably good. What a great buy if you own a truck you should have one in back just incase. It’s so beefy and strong I can’t imagine anything hurting it, looks totally badass in the hitch, and is just so dang useful you will not regret this purchase at all I wish I bought it sooner. Typical Curt Manufactung quality it’s built incredibly well is solid all the way through and will no doubt outlast the truck u put it on. Straps will not slip off this thing it’s got a great angle and depth and to it. What a great product so happy I went for it!

This thing is a beast and has a pretty tough finish but if you do manage to scratch it like I did the exposed metal will rust. I managed to scratch mine when I stood on it with reef flip flops that had a bottle opener on the bottom of them. Also it wiggled alot when u first installed it. I needed to put a few lares of electrical tape on it to get that perfect fit.

This was shipped really fast and came in a good sealed box. It is solid and will work for you. Some say it is loose in the receiver and rattles going down the road, that is correct, it is loose and it does rattle. I took some duct tape and wrapped it around the area that goes inside so you do not see the tape and it tightened up good enough for me.As far as the finish goes I have not had it long enough to say, but if it does fade I know where to get a can of black spray paint. Photo is an F150 and the hook sticks out 7 inches from the bumper. I like it sticking out cause I tend to back into things now and then so it saves my bumper.UPDATE: Well, it has been 9 months since I put this on my truck and the glossy shine of the paint has faded a bit but it has not rusted or has the paint chipped off. If you use a chain with it you may scratch or chip the finish. Straps are ok.

I cant believe the abuse I’ve put mine through. This thing is heavy and very durable. People complain about it being loose and rattling? Well? Yea it does some. But nothing some duct tape cant fix.People? I pulled an old house over with this thing. I’m not kidding 😎

9 pounds of forged steel. This thing is awesome. Haven’t gotten the opportunity to pull anything with it yet but it keeps jackasses from getting too close 🙂 I have no doubt that when duty calls, the Curt tow hook will answer that call effortlessly. As others have mentioned, it does rattle a little in the hitch receiver but a couple of wraps of electric tape at the front and rear of the shank took care of that. Overall couldn’t be happier with my purchase. If you’re thinking about picking one up just stop thinking and order one already. You won’t regret it.

Bigger than expected. Heavy duty, and looks sick on a front hitch. Didn’t want a hook this big but it’s so cool I decided it was a keeper.I hit a deer with the hook on while doing 50 a week ago. My hitch hangs from my frame rails on angled brackets and sits directly behind my bumper valance. A heavy duty hitch knocked the deer down, a heavy duty hook pushed it away from the truck so I didn’t crush it, and by the time I had finished braking the deer was on its side and not half stuck in my suspension. He got up and ran away too. Without the hitch I’d pay the price of a hitch on a new bumper valance and fog lights + harness repair u clips/bolts and time. Without the hook I’d have antlers and hooves trashing my radiator and trans cooler. With them, the deer got to live another day. That’s good in my books

Awesome purchase.. great price.. only downside for me, had to use a converter on my heavy duty to downsize to fit this one.. would have been great if this were for a 2 and half inch receiver

This tow hook has some serious heft to it. I keep it installed on my 4×4 hitch because it’s a quick method of attaching tow ropes – to free-up and tow my, or other’s, stuck vehicle. Plus it looks cool, on my vehicle, like a curled tail. Driving on all sand roads invariably means stuck cars. For my recovery setup, I pair this hitch with a 30′ kinetic 7/8″ recovery rope and 22″ soft shackles. All stowed away in the vehicle for the inevitable stuck situation.
