I have be doing custom painting since the 70s. one thing I have learned in all that time is, trying new things is a good thing. I must admit, I didn’t have very high expectations when it comes to this clear, or the Speedo kote color blender. Lets be honest, comparing a 99$ super fast clear to High solids clears that coast 3 or 4 times as much, isn’t exactly fare. Fare or not I am going to do it. Lets start with the color blender, My local supplier charges 75$ for a quart of PPG color blender, I use color blenders for mixing candy concentrates, and as the carrier for metal flake. Speedo Kote’s color blender worked quite well for both of these uses. The candies I shot using it, atomized vey well and laid down very flat, both shot from a HVLP gun set up with a 1.3 mm needle setup at 35 psi at the gun, and through a large needle airbrush. I saw no adhesion issues when pulling tape. When used to shoot flake, through a Binks Model 7 setup with a 1.8 mm needle set, again it atomized well, I use color blender for shooting flake because it dries fast. This color blender worked just fine, gave me enough time to rub the flake down flat, before it became to hard.It would be safe to say I really didn’t miss the 75$ PPG color blender. As to the super fast clear coat. I used it to bury the flake, and provide the final clear coat. This is where I fully expected to be let down by this product line. However, I was actually shocked, to see how well this clear laid down. I shot it with a 1.3 mm needle HVLP gun at 35 PSI at the gun. It went on so flat, I couldn’t believe that a clear that can be touched in 10 minuets, could lay so smooth! It wet sanded with ease, and polished to a beautiful gloss. All I needed to do was hit the project with 2000 grit on a block to make it ready to polish. Side by side with something clear coated with an expensive high solids clear, it would be very difficult for anyone to pick out the expensive clear! If you were doing a plain old repair job on a car, you wouldn’t have to wet sand at all, just skip right to the end, that equals money in your pocket! So to sum up, am I saying I am giving up expensive clears and color blenders, well no. The work I do is high end custom work, and my customers are well informed, and expect to pay more for premium materials. However, there are always those budgetminded customers, looking for an amazing paint job, without breaking the bank. As for me, I would not hesitate to offer these products as a lower coast alternative to the much higher priced options. And I would do it with confidence in the finished result that I would be delivering!

Three coats is best for a deeper finish. 80% overlap for the smoothest finish. Yet the DOI (clarity or reflection) is a bit blurry compared to their euro clear or SMR 42. Best to use this on non reflective colors like white, beige or yellow. Dark colors will show a quality difference next to the panels that were not damaged.
