Love these catches, put them on my 1987 Dodge Ram 150, factory steel hood. If you have a large hood, expect to buy some bolts and extra nuts to elongate the studs, otherwise, they don’t reach. Went to Lowe’s and found bolts with the same thread pitch I believe it was 3/8-24, and some extra nuts. Youre definitely gonna need to drill the 2 1/2 inch hole to tighten the nut on the actual catch. These things work awesome, and look great too. Took me about 2 hours to install because of paranoia due to my paint job, and where to install the studs, symmetry, etc. All in all, GREAT product, DONT cheap out, go for this brand. Very satisfied with this product

I do my research on any part I buy for my car. Do not buy the cheap knock-off pins. They have plastic and cheap metal parts that can break and rust. These are all stainless steel and billet aluminum. These also have more articulation and a smaller footprint than any other, making fitment much easier. The button mechanism works very well with a satisfying “pop” sound every time it’s used… As to people saying the recommended 1 1/4″ hole being too big: I measured across the threads. They are 1 3/16″. That’s only 1/16″ of play. So, you could go down to a 1 1/8 ” hole saw and file it in for a really snug fit, if that’s what you want.

Put them on my carbon hood. Installation was nerve wrecking. But just go for it and take your time. Ones installed, they look nice and simple unlike the big aero catch. Strong holding power will handle high speeds easy. Will recommend!

Very easy to install, I was very nervous about cutting a hole into my carbon fibre hood. The shape of these hood pins makes installation very simple just cut with a hole saw.Do not buy the cheap ones they won’t last and the quality is not very good.

I had a problem with my aftermarket fiberglass hood. It would pop the latch lock a couple times a year and scare the crap out of me on the street or freeway. Luckily the hand latch held each time and the hood never flew up past that. I was on the freeway the last time and had to pull over fast in the emergency lane. Well, this was when I looked up hood pins and latches. I didn’t want a broken windows or worse. I knew I didn’t want regular pins sticking out of my hood. I wanted something a little more subtle. I also didn’t want some cheep latch that would rust, let go unexpectedly, or get stuck. This is where my research sent me. I would rather pay a little more for quality and only have to buy it once. These things look good on my hood especially since my hood is black and they match. They aren’t that big and look good. Install wasn’t that bad either had 2 layers to cut through. The top layer and the bottom. They are about an inch or more separated meaning I had to make the bottom hole bigger but didn’t want it huge. I eneded up making two slits on either side just big enough to fit the nut through and my finger tips. I didn’t like the fit with just the nut on the bottom of the latch. The hole i cut was just big enough for the threads but very loose when all the wat in because of the recess cut under the latch. The latch was able to move around a little because the base isn’t threaded all the way up like it should be or at least should have stopped the threads and left the circumstances the same just under the base. For this fix and to make everything fit snug without moving I added a small rubber seal ring between the nut and the underside of the hood. They fit perfect now and don’t move at all. The rubber also keeps the nuts from backing out even though there is thread lock. It gets over 105 out here in California and that hood gets much hotter than that, I don’t trust thread lock when it’s hot. Overall a great product, clean look, and great connection. I have already told my friends about it and hopefully they hold up.

It was so easy to install. I reused factory holes on the front frame rail. Then I used a 2 1/4 inch hole saw for the bottom layer of my carbon fiber hood. This allows for enough room to fit my fingers and tighten the bottom of the latch once I installed it. Next I took a 1 1/4 inch hole saw for the top of the hood which was the perfect size for me to insert the latch. Overall the whole install only took me 30 mins from unboxing to measurements to installation finish. I also love the quality of it. It felt hefty and was not made of cheap aluminum. Would recommend it to others.
