Description
Transmission Pan – Heavy-Duty Cast Aluminum There’s no need to discard the filter pan assembly every time you service your transmission. PPE has engineered an exclusive removable and replaceable fluid filter and permanent replacement pan made from cast aluminum. This eliminates the high cost of regularly replacing the factory pan. Now simply remove, replace filter and reinstall. Holding 1.5 quarts of extra fluid, the high-strength aluminum features external cooling fins for optimal heat dissipation. Cooler fluid lubricates better which helps increase transmission service life and reduce service costs. The PPE Heavy-Duty Aluminum Transmission Pan also features a high-powered Neodymium magnet equipped drain plug to keep harmful ferrous metal contaminants out of the transmission internals.

The Good: This is a quality product. The Bad: On my Cherokee it is very difficult to install due to the front cross member. This cross member is a welded part of the sub-frame the supports the lower control arms and engine mount, so really not worth removing. I did however successfully get it installed using: 1) a car lift, 2) specialty 1/4″ fine tooth Bit ratchets, AND 3) lots of patience. If you don’t have these three things then stick to the stock plastic transmission pan. The stock pan allows for easier access to the front pan bolts due to the shallower pan design.

I installed the PPE oil pan and trans pan at the same time. I did not use oem lubeguard8, but instead talked with Valvoline and was assured and backed by their max life fluid. I put a bottle of lubeguard platinum to ensure no fluid issues. All of this took place at 8900 miles as I am a diesel tech and love to upgrade things. The factory trans already had metal shavings in the pan… imagine that lol. The pan install lowered the temps by about 15 degrees which is great. The oil pan only a couple degrees. But PPE makes great products I have used for years!

Put this on my 2014 SRT8 Jeep. Works great. Dropped my temperatures by anywhere from 10-15 degrees depending on the driving conditions. Hasn’t seen over 200 degrees on the transmission temperature since. Refilled with Valvoline Maxlife and Lubegard red. Plus it comes with a drain plug that doesn’t break. Which is super nice. Had to reuse the sleeves where the bolts are from the stock pan which is no big deal. Keep in mind this is in sunny Florida. So it definitely stays pretty hot down here. Definitely a worthy upgrade and will be much cheaper in the long run with the replaceable filters unlike the stock unit where the filter is built into the pan. Highly recommended!

Ok, (1) Got the pan today, great looking pan, heavier than I thought it would be – but that’s ok. (2) Arrived a lot sooner than I expected. (3) I only give three stars because of no gasket. This is a 300.00 + pan – and no gasket? Really? In the morning I will be taking a very close examination of the pan to make sure there are no defects, cracks, etc. I am a little concerned about the filter tube – it looks short. But I won’t know for sure until I start removing the original one from my vehicle. Hope it works – I hate having to return things and if that happens here – I will be without a vehicle until things are corrected.

PPE transmission pan PART NUMBER: 228153500 worked great for our JLUR Wrangler. We were able to reuse the factory pan gasket but a new Mopar gasket is like $55 if you need it. Pan came with new hardware and a couple stickers for the toolbox. PPE makes a great product

had to drop the transmission cross member, really its not that bad. added an extra quart on top of what I drained out. No leaks and definitely keeps the trans fluid cooler by 5-10 degrees. I encourage you to get a new gasket with it. solid piece.
