It does what it says. It isn’t exactly as instant as I expected but its because of the way it compares your rpm signal to the speed sensor signal. It takes a split second to analyze but pretty quick and darn accurate for something that isn’t reading the trans position directly. Blue is a little tough to see in bright daylight so pick your color wisely.

JUNK quality level, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TO INSTALL. This is the second one after I asked for an exchange. It has the same problem! The first one I received, the indicator shows max is 5, but my motorbike has 6 gears. It still can show gear N and 1. And this another one is even worse, the indicator shows 2,3,4,5 but my motorbike already gears 3,4,5,6. It never shows gear N and 1. The first one and this second one have the same error. I highly recommend sellers remove the ad on Amazon because if the product is not working, I will not take it even if it’s free.
