I’ll start by saying for anyone seeing this that you can get by without this tool… with that being said it was be a huge annoyance not to have it unless you have a 3 foot tire iron and and anchoring point (I used a long socket extension between the bolt off the manifold and the subframe) a bit of time (I know since I was in a pinch before with this). Truth me told… you’re going to spend the same amount on this tool as the tire iron and the tire iron and anchoring point with take you a long time goofing around. I’ve seen these before and they were subpar compared to the quality of this one. Best part of all is the company included a tensioner spring pin! I just bought a crank pulley that doesn’t come with the one time use and this comes with a pin for a tensioner spring. Very good purchase and saved a lot of time and hassle!

Works great, much less expensive than other brands. I do wish the two pins/dowels that grab the tensioner were a little longer, it would feel safer to use if they were, less of a chance of them pooping out while keeping tension on the spring.

For $40 (at the time of this review), can’t beat the value! Would you rather bust your knuckles, damage your automatic tensioner, waste a LOT of time trying without one, or just spend the $40 once and have the tensioner that you can use as often as needed?Quit thinking about it and just buy the tool! Fits very nicely with just a little bit of patience, includes a solid pin, and is worth the money without a doubt. Do yourself a favor and use small adjustable pliers or needle nose pliers to set and remove the pin for safety. Even better, have someone else set the pin while you hold the tensioner tool lol!

Bought this to fix my mini cooper s alternator and it was needed to release the tension on the serpentine belt prior to removing the alternator. It worked great and the pin that came with it is quite long and it had no problem with reaching and holding to release the tension on the serpentine belt.

Worked great used on mini cooper 2006 1.6 supercharged. Provides more than enough leverage a tight fit to get in but works perfectly.
