I bought this hoping to fix my 2004 explorer hard shift issue with no code(warning light). After replacing the pack and filter and fluid, transmission shift smoothly. If you have hard shift issue and warning light, your transmission is most likely need a rebuilt. This would not help much

This control solenoid was exactly what I needed to repair my 2007 Ford Explorer 5R55S transmission problems. For about 15k – 20k miles my explorer has not been shifting 100%. The problem seems to be intermittent. Some times when the vehicle was in park then shifted to reverse it would delay about 5 seconds and then slam into reverse. This wasnt as bad if you pushed the brake pedal all the way down to the floor. Other times when you backed up then went to shift to Drive it would delay as well, but usually with out the slam. While driving the transmission would shift through all of the forward gears, however there was a delay between the shifts that was noticeable. It would usually not shift into OD until the trans was warmed up either.I had been to a local reputable transmission shop 3 times trying to diagnose this problem. The first two trips resulted in the same answer “Sir there is nothing wrong with your transmission” They were not able to pull any codes from it, and it was not indicating that it was slipping at all. So finally the third time I went in there were some lights on the dash, the ABS, Wrench, and Traction Control lights were all on. After driving around and reading the codes there was nothing wrong with the transmission again however we did find other problems related to those lights. They did tell me that they could replace the solenoid pack and replace the servos and bore the case out and put brass bushings in.I ended up purchasing the Solenoid pack, Motorcraft FT140 Filter, and the AJ1E Solutions Servo Kit. I followed the video on Youtube by ford tech makuloco. I was going to do the servos at the same time, but decided to put it back together and test it before replacing the sevos. It worked great it shifts very smooth now with out the slamming into reverse. I have only put a few miles on it for the test drive. Will update if problems come back.

The product arrived quickly and looked like it was good quality. I returned it because the transmission was far more damaged than we originally thought. So a complete rebuild was necessary. But I would not hesitate to purchase this again if needed. So that’s why only 4 stars.
