The installation instructions were lacking, in fact they didn’t help at all, causing the PerTronix ignition to over heat and burn up. I never did work..NOT HAPPY !!!!!!

Bought this for my 1960 Willys CJ5 Jeep. It has the Autolite IAY 4401 distributor (no vacuum advance) on the original F-134 engine. What you see in the photo is what your get. Remove cap and rotor and then unscrew the two side screws that secure the cap latches and the inside plate that the points and condenser sit on. Pop the original plate out. You then simply drop this plate in and run the wires through the side hole and attatch the red+ & neg- wires directly to the coil (if you have the internally regulated type coil). Push on the included collar and reinstall the rotor and cap. Start it back up and let it warm up and then adjust your timing to make sure you are good-to-go. Takes about 15 minutes total. You can reinstall the original points/condensor plate back at any time in the same quick manner in case of a failure or trouble shooting. This upgrade gave me a VERY noticeable top-end gain. It runs and idles very smooth and now has a lot more “pep” which is always welcome on an old underpowered F-134! I like the fact that you keep your original distributor and have the new technology hidden inside it. This is the second vehicle I have a installed a PerTronix Ignition in and have had no issues – only positive gains. USA made product!

Wow, what a difference! Installed on my 1950 Franken-jeep. Couldn’t even get it started with the points. Installed and started and ran great on first press of the starter. Smoother idle, smoother acceleration, and rock-solid return to idle. Why did I wait so long to do this? The magnet was a very tight fit on the distributor. Had to slowly tap it on with a nut driver…it was not a gentle press fit, and I was worried it would break or otherwise not work, but it did.

It took a bit of effort to get the magnetic ring to seat properly but other than that everything was easy and was a fairly quick install . It is amazing how easily this old engine starts now thanks to this upgrade compared the older point system . Ive only had this running for one day so ill update the review if anything changes .
